Colombo (News 1st); The Government will not defy the Supreme Court ruling on the applications challenging the Colombo Port City Economic Commission Bill, said Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage on Friday (16).
'The Government will stand by whatever ruling is delivered by the Supreme Court,' he added. The Minister said the Colombo Port City is a turning port for Sri Lanka which will elevate the country to a level on par with Singapore. The opposition against the Colombo Port City is taking place based on a political agenda, alleged Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage. 'The Government only needs a simple majority to adopt the Colombo Port City Economic Commission,' said the Minister. Commenting on the recent controversial remarks made by MP Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, the Minister said issues of the ruling faction should be solved from within and personal matters or the matter of not receiving a ministerial portfolio should not be raised with matters of national interest.
