COLOMBO (News 1st): The Director-General of Health Services on Sunday (Mar. 29) confirmed TWO (02) COVID-19 deaths in the country, raising Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 death toll to 561.
Interestingly, one death was reported in December 2020 and the other in February.
The details of the deceased are as follows:
01. A 60-year-old male from Colombo 15. He died on 01.02.2021 on admission to Mawanella Base Hospital. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid infection and chronic renal failure.
02. A 35-year-old male from Mawanella. He died on 29.12.2020 on admission to Mawanella Base Hospital. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid infection and acute diabetes.
Meanwhile, another 249 new positive cases were reported on Sunday (Mar. 28), raising the COVID-19 caseload in the country to 92,088, the Department of Government Information said.
As of Monday morning (Mar. 29), there are 2906 active patients receiving treatment, while 88,623 have recovered.
According to the Epidemiology Unit, 9889 people received the COVID-19 jab on Sunday (Mar. 29); and so far, 894,053 people have been vaccinated in the country.
