Colombo (News 1st); A Buddhist monk on Monday (22) started to walk from Kandy to Colombo to protest against the failure by the authorities to address the human-elephant conflict and the on-going destruction caused to the forests in Sri Lanka.

Before starting the walk from Kandy, the Venerable Thero paid reverence to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy. There are natural ways to prevent the wild elephants from storming into villages, said Venerable Medirigiriye Seeki Thero who is walking to Colombo from Kandy.
