Combat cost of living through increasing family income - President

Colombo (News 1st); President Gotabaya Rajapaksa reiterated his commitment towards serving the people with the same intensity as before.

"I have no other intentions and I believe the people have faith in me, I will ensure it will remain," said the President. "Compare the economic growth, national security, and sovereignty between 5 years of the previous government and how things stand now. As a country, we had to experience those years because the people were deceived by propaganda and lost their way," the President added. "The best way to combat the cost of living is to increase the income of every family," said President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. President adding the government had made great strides towards increasing household income across all tiers of society. The President went on to note tax cuts including the removal of the PAYE tax had greatly benefited Sri Lankans. The Government had undertaken many tasks for agriculture to increase the revenue of the rural communities. The provision of free fertilizer and the certified price had greatly benefited the farmers in Mullaithivu, Batticaloa, and other areas, however, some do not speak of these efforts, said the President. The President dismissed allegations that claim the Tamil and Muslim communities do not receive benefits, adding the policies of the government have in fact benefited those communities.
