COLOMBO (News 1st): The first year anniversary celebrations of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya was held at the Hyde Park Corner in Colombo today.
The event was held under the patronage of Opposition Leader and Leader of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya - Sajith Premadasa.
Deputy Chairman of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya - Harin Fernando at the event said that Andare and ants come into mind when one talks about sugar, but now, you would remember Nandasena Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
"What has happened now? Sir came to protect the country, but now the entire country has to get together to protect the country from Sir," said Deputy Chairman of the SJB.
Adding further, he said, when the CBSL Bond Scam happened, people may remember the things they said, but the person who should have been captured could not be caught by the police for ten days, and he went to court and obtained bail.
Fernando said that the Sugar Scam is just one incident, and the cost of living has skyrocketed because the Government is robbing from everything that they can.
Samagi Jana Balawegaya Parliamentarian - Patali Champika Ranawaka, addressing the event, said the President's children are living in Los Angeles, and Basil Rajapaksa's children also live in Los Angeles.
Patali Champika said that they could only hope that the Government would let the country be in one piece so that their children have a place to live.
He said, instead of giving lands to the farmers, the lands are being provided to racketeers.
He added that the Government is trying to make the farmers slaves in the country.
He concluded by saying that the country must be salvaged from the grip of the Rajapaksa's.
Leader of the Opposition and Leader of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya - Sajith Premadasa, said that the health sector and the education sector of the country have collapsed.
"The school students are helpless. Infants and mothers have lost their rights. I am urging all of you, be prepared for a massive exercise to heal the sorrows of the public. Join us to go to the street to protect the general public."
