COLOMBO (News 1st): The charred remains of an individual were found inside a burnt car in Asiri Mawatha in Kohuwala, Sri Lanka Police said on Thursday morning (Mar. 11).
A charred dead body was found in a motor vehicle down Asiri Mawatha in the Kohuwala Police area at 11:30 pm last night; upon receiving information on the matter, Police had rushed to the scene, Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana told News 1st.
"The Police had observed that the car had been burnt and a charred body was found inside the vehicle. The victim was identified as a 33-year-old businessman, who was residing down Bhathiya Mawatha in the Kohuwala Police area," the Deputy Police Chief elaborated.
Sri Lanka Police will report facts to the Nugegoda Magistrate's Court today (Mar. 11), and the magisterial inquest in respect of the body would be conducted, the Police Spokesperson noted.
Thereafter, the post mortem examination will be conducted.
"The Police are seeking the support from the Government Analyst and the other experts in the field to ascertain the cause of the fire," DIG Ajith Rohana added.
Further investigations are being conducted by Kohuwala Police.
