Rishad goes to CID against Wimal; challenges to prove accusations

Colombo (News 1st); Rishad Bathiudeen, the leader of the All Ceylon Makkal Congress (ACMC) filed a complaint with the Criminal Investigations Department on Wednesday (10) requesting for an inquiry on a statement made by Minister Wimal Weerawansa. 

On Tuesday (09) Weerawansa told a gathering that police officers had informed His Eminence the Cardinal the manner in which Rishad 

Bathiudeen

 and his brother had telephone conversations with the mastermind of the 2019 April 21st Attacks Zaharan Hashim.

 turned to business calls when Rishad 

Bathiudeen's

 brother was arrested," said Wimal Weerawansa.

He said there some in government who support Islamist extremism and their actions have prevented exposing the true nature of people like Rishad 

Bathiudeen

.

However, MP 

Bathiudeen

 dismissed these accusations by the Minister stating they are false and baseless.

"I challenge Wimal Weerawansa to prove these accusations," 

Bathiudeen

 told reporters on Wednesday (10) adding he believes the CID 

would

 take the necessary measures to conduct an investigation based on the complaint he filed.

Rishad Bathiudeen went on to note, Wimal Weerawansa who is politically helpless would resort to creating such lies for political advantage.
