Plantation workers daily wage increased to Rs. 1000/-

Colombo (News 1st); Minister of Labour, Nimal Siripala De Silva said the proposal to increase the daily wage of estate workers to Rs. 1,000, was approved by the Wages Board. According to the Minister, despite objections from Estate Owners against the proposal, it was approved by the Wages Board. The decision was reached at the Wages Board discussion held at the Department of Labour. A total of 197 objections were filed by Estate Owners against the proposal to increase the daily wage of estate eorkers to Rs. 1000.
