COLOMBO (News 1st): The Director-General of Health Services confirmed that THREE (03) COVID-19 deaths were reported in the country on Wednesday (Feb. 24), raising Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 death toll to 457. The details of the deceased are as follows: 01. A 68-year-old female from Boralesgamuwa. She was diagnosed as infected with Covid-19 and transferred from the Kotalawala Defence University Hospital to Homagama Base Hospital, where he died on 24.02.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as blood poisoning shock and acute kidney disease with COVID-19 infection. 02. A 69-year-old female from Mount Lavinia. She died on 21.02.2021 on admission to Colombo-South Teaching Hospital. The cause of death is mentioned as acute diabetes and Covid-19 infection. 03. A 55-year-old male from Kotugoda. He died on 23.02.2021 while receiving treatment at the Colombo-North Teaching Hospital. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia. 04. A 60-year-old male from Wattala. He was transferred from the Welisara Chest Hospital to Colombo-North Teaching Hospital, where he died on 24.02.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia and acute heart attack. Meanwhile, another 458 new positive cases were reported on Wednesday (Feb. 24), raising the COVID-19 caseload in the country to 81,467. As of Thursday morning (Feb. 25), there are 4496 active patients receiving treatment, while 76,514 have recovered.
