Colombo (News 1st); Justice Minister Ali Sabry, PC told Parliament on Friday (12), there many private religious laws in existence in Sri Lanka, and therefore in order to realize the concept of 'One Law - One Country', the Muslim Law alone cannot be abolished.
There are many other private religious laws in existence in the country, such as the Kandyan Marriage and Divorce Act, Jaffna Thesavalamai Law, Muslim Marriage and Divorce Act, Church of Ceylon Act, and those too will have to be abolished for the 'One Law - One Country' concept to realize, he added.
There is no need to target one particular law by giving voice cuts and raising slogans, said the Justice Minister.
