COLOMBO (News1st): The report of the presidential commission that probed the April 21st attacks must be tabled in Parliament, Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake has said.
"...it is not just us as a political movement, but all citizens of this country have a justifiable right to know the contents of the report," Dissanayake told media on Thursday.
He pointed out that there are ample opportunities to make the report public, that includes even by publishing it on the website of the government, justice ministry or the presidential secretariat.
"During the party leaders meeting, we requested for the report of the presidential commission that probed the attacks to be tabled in Parliament," the JVP leader noted.
Although the report has not been tabled in Parliament yet, an English newspaper citing reliable sources has reported that it does not recommend criminal charges against former prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
