COLOMBO (News1st): Sri Lanka has received applications seeking the validation of three COVID-19 vaccines, state minister Prof. Channa Jayasumana has said.
This includes Russia's Sputnik, China's Sinopharm and India's Bharath Biotech jabs.
"If we are permitting a vaccine it cannot be done suddenly. Any decision must be made after studying the matter extensively," Jayasumana noted.
He added that Sri Lanka has a strong regulatory process that requires extensive studies before validating a jab.
"Once we receive data about these jabs following clinical trials, we will decide whether the vaccine is suitable for our country," the pharmaceuticals state minister noted.
