COLOMBO (News1st): Several Sri Lankan expatriates are facing difficulties as a result of being unable to return to the country due to the heavy cost involved, MP Harini Amarasuriya has said.
"We have information that you have to spend at least Rs. 400,000 to Rs. 500,000 to return to the country," Amarasuriya, representing the Progressive Women's Collective noted.
She observed that only a few individuals are able to afford being repatriated to the country.
"When we attempt to find information on how many were brought back, how many are stranded abroad, and what is happening to them, we can't find information," Amarasuriya added.
