COLOMBO (News 1st): President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has issued instructions to Departments and Institutions to draft new laws on wildlife conservation and land in a manner that would be beneficial for the people.
This was in response to a request made by a member of the public during the Gama Samaga Pilisandarak program.
The Head of State expressed these views while attending the Gama Samaga Pilisandarak program held on the banks of the Kukulkatuwa tank in Aluthwewa in Thanamalwila.
This is the 8th phase of the program that began in the Badulla District.
The President instructed the Department of Wildlife Conservation and environmental institutions to draft laws that would be beneficial to the people.
The President reached this decision after taking into consideration the suffering the people had to go through due to prolonged litigation in cases filed by these institutions as a result of not drafting new laws in these areas.
The President revealed that he had endorsed 17,000 deeds that were cleared of all discrepancies.
