COLOMBO (News 1st): A US-Sri Lanka dialogue has been organized ahead of US President-elect Joe Biden's swearing-in ceremony tomorrow.
The discussion will be co-hosted by Sri Lanka's Pathfinder Foundation and the US-based Asia Society Policy Institute.
The dialogue, co-hosted by Sri Lanka's Pathfinder Foundation and the US-based Asia Society Policy Institute will involve former senior state officials and civil society representatives as well.
It is expected to provide policy-makers of the US and Sri Lanka with a better understanding of the ground situation, the challenges, opportunities and priorities that have an effect on the ties between both nations.
The Barack Obama administration's Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Robert O. Blake Jr. will lead the US delegation.
Bernard Goonetilleke, a former foreign secretary and ambassador to the US will head the Sri Lankan delegation.
The conclusions reached during the discussion will be presented to both governments for consideration.
