MODERN PRISON FOR HORANA - MINISTERS VISIT PROPOSED SITE

Colombo (News 1st); Justice Minister Ali Sabry PC & State Minister of Prison Management & Prisoners' Rehabilitation Lohan Ratwatte visited the 250-acre property in Horana for the proposed Prison Complex on Wednesday (20). The new prison will attribute to easing congestion at the prisons in Sri Lanka, said State Minister Ratwatte. The new prison in Horana will comprise of a Day Care Center, Gymnasium, Swimming Pool, Sports Complex, Workshop, and a farm as well. Further, it will consist of a rehabilitation facility for drug addicts and those convicted for minor offenses. The new prison in Horana will be ten times larger compared to the Welikada Prison Complex and will be equipped with state-of-the-art equipment to meet international standards, said the State Minister.
