National resources being sold to settle debt : Tilvin

COLOMBO (News1st): The government is selling national resources to settle the country's debt, Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna Secretary Tilvin Silva has said. "In 2021 we have to settle 5.8 billion as debts," Silva noted. He added that the government is attempting to sell off its valuable resources including oil tanks, harbours and airports to foreign entities to settle the debt. The JVP secretary pointed out that the government has declared ports as an essential service to control public demonstrations. "If the port services are essential, why are they selling the port?" Silva queried.
