COLOMBO (News 1st): The Cabinet Committee that was appointed to review the East Container terminal deal held a discussion with port trade unions today.
A meeting between 23 port trade unions, and the committee, took place at the ministry of ports this morning.
The trade union representatives came for the discussion with a proposal to maintain the port with 100% to Sri Lanka.
According to representatives of the trade unions, Chairman of Sri Lanka Ports Authority, Retired General Daya Ratnayaka, and secretary to the Ministry of Ports, U.D.C Jayalal were the only members of the committee, who had attended the meeting.
The committee is chaired by the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority, Retired General Daya Ratnayake, while other members include the Secretary to the Ministry of Ports and Shipping and six other Secretaries.
However, according to port trade unions, the discussions were a failure.
