32 people to be prosecuted for 2019 Terror Attacks

Colombo (News 1st); Minister of Public Security Retired Rear Admiral Sarath Weerasekara said 32 people directly connected to the 2019 April 21st Terror Attacks, will be prosecuted.

08 investigation files completed by Sri Lanka Police with regard to the terror attacks were forwarded to the Attorney General, said the Minister.

In addition, 241 other people are held on detention orders, he said adding the investigations on them are based on assisting the terrorist to carry out the attacks, as well as funding them.

The Minister said the Attorney General is awaiting the report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry appointed to probe the 2019 April 21st Terror Attack to proceed with instituting legal action.

The report will be made available on the 31st of January and the Attorney General had already appointed 12 Senior Counsel to peruse the commission report.
