PROTEST FOR 'FREEDOM OF SPEECH' IN COLOMBO

Colombo (News 1st); The United Opposition staged a protest in Colombo on Wednesday (13) themed 'Let Us Protect Freedom of Speech'.

A number of civil organizations as well as Samagi Jana Balavegaya members took part in the protest.

The Samagi Jana Balavegaya also handed over a complaint to the Speaker of Parliament to protect the freedom of speech.

In the complaint, the SJB said every member of parliament has a legal right to express their opinions.

In adds, the President's remarks mentioning the name of MP Harin Fernando for a statement the latter made in Parliament is one which goes against the Freedom of Speech and is likely to intimidation.
