COLOMBO (News1st): Sri Lanka reported four new COVID-19 deaths on Tuesday, as the country death toll due to the infection hit 244.
The deceased included an 82-year old female resident of Colombo 13 who had passed away at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases last Sunday.
Her cause of death has been identified as blood poisoning caused by the virus, leading to the dysfunctioning of multiple organs.
Another deceased included a 47-year old male from Hanwella who had passed away at the Homagama Base Hospital due to heart issues, caused by the virus, on Tuesday.
An 84-year old female from Matale who had passed away at the Teldeniya Base Hospital on Friday due to heart issues was another COVID-19 fatality, authorities said.
The other death was of a 65-year old male from Wellampitiya who had passed away at the Mulleriyawa Base Hospital on Tuesday due to pneumonia caused by COVID-19.
