242 COVID INFECTIONS FROM COLOMBO ON THURSDAY (24)

COLOMBO (News 1st): A total of 592 people were confirmed positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, ending at 06:00 AM on Friday (Dec. 25), the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) said. Three of them were Sri Lankan expatriates and the rest 589 are locally-identified patients. A majority of 245 patients were from the Colombo District, 140 from Kaluthara District, 66 from the Gampaha, District and 137 are from different districts, stated the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO). By 6.00 AM Friday (25), the total number of COVID-19 positive cases reported from Minuwangoda garment factory employees and the Peliyagoda Fish Market cluster stands at 35,526. By 6.00 AM Friday (25), the flight QR 668 from Qatar with 21 passengers, the flight UL 607 from Australia with 70 passengers, the flight UL 605 from Australia with 123 passengers, and the flight UL455 from Japan with 07 passengers have arrived. The flight UL 226 from UAE with 287 passengers, the flight UL 102 from the Maldives with a passenger, the flight UL1208 from Italy with 27 passengers, the flight UL320 from Malaysia with 12 passengers, the flight MU231 from China with 77 passengers, the flight SQ468 from Singapore arrived. They all were referred to Quarantine Centers (QCs), managed by tri-services upon their arrival after formalities at the airport. By 6.00 AM Friday (25), 6,457 persons in 76 tri service-managed QCs are still in quarantine.
