Mahara Prison unrest: autopsy reports submitted

Colombo (News 1st): The Autopsy reports of 07 inmates who were killed during the Mahara prison unrest were produced before the Wattala Magistrates Court on Wednesday(23). Autopsy reports of 04 other inmates who died during the clashes were presented to court during the previous hearing. The Criminal Investigations Department had previously informed court, that the autopsies of the 07 inmates were delayed due to delays in cremating the remains of the 04 other inmates. The Wattala Magistrate Buddhika Sri Ragala had ordered the expert committee to conduct the autopsy examinations of the 07 inmates and produce facts in court on Wednesday(23). 11 inmates were killed while several other inmates and prison officials were injured during the unrest that broke out at the Mahara Prison on the 29th and 30th of November.
