Isolation status of 9 police jurisdictions in the Colombo district remains

COLOMBO (News1st): The isolation status of 9 police jurisdictions in the Colombo district will continue to be in effect, the Police said. In addition, the isolation status of certain Grama Niladari divisions, streets, and apartment complexes are also to remain in effect. Police officers were deployed in civil attire to these isolated areas and public areas including public transport for surveillance purposes, the police added. 30 suspects have been arrested within the past 24 hours for violating the quarantine laws, police media spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana said. A total of 1705 suspects have been arrested, so far for not wearing face masks and maintaining social distances since October. Police also request the public to be cautious about a possible spike in criminal activities during this festive season and also to drive responsibly. Special police teams have already been deployed to nab reckless drivers and to ensure public safety during these festive seasons.
