Colombo (News 1st); Maj. Gen. (Retd) Sudantha Ranasinghe, the Director-General of the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) said people who need to be evacuated from areas that can be affected by cyclone Burevi, were identified in late November, and they are being moved to evacuation centers.
Speaking on a live program on Cyclone Burevi, he said evacuation centers were set up even before the cyclone made its way towards Sri Lanka adding, the people in the respective areas were informed to prepare an emergency kit which would include important documents, medication, and clothing, to be prepared to evacuate.
There are over 50 Evacuation Centers in every district identified as those that could be affected by Cyclone Burevi, said the DMC Director-General.
