COLOMBO(News 1st): The low-pressure area in the south-east Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a depression during the next 36 hours and likely to intensify further, issuing a weather advisory to the Department of Meteorology stated.
The system is likely to move nearly westwards to the North coast of Sri Lanka, the statement added.
It will affect the weather over the island and surrounding sea areas during the next few days, said the Department of Meteorology.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at a few places in Uva, Central, Western, and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle and Matara districts after 2.00 p.m, the statement mentioned.
Fairly heavy falls about 50mm are likely at some places, according to the Department.
Showers can be expected at a few places in the Eastern province.
