COLOMBO (News1st): A medical association has raised concerns over an unprecedented delay in issuing the results of PCR tests conducted to identify COVID-19 patients.
Ravi Kumudesh, the president of the Sri Lanka Association of Government Medical Laboratory Technologists said state-run laboratories are capable of releasing the results in a day.
"....why is it taking more than five days to release the results?" he queried.
The association president raised suspicion whether an unknown entity is influencing the delay in results.
"The people who claim that more than five days would be required to produce the results should be held responsible for this," Kumudesh insisted.
He pointed out that results are released in 48 hours only at the state-run laboratory in Mulleriyawa due to certain technical issues.
