Colombo (News 1st); The prevailing showery condition is expected to continue further particularly in the “high risk” Areas (Northern, North-central, and North-western provinces and Trincomalee district).
Very heavy rainfalls above 300 mm are likely at some places in Northern and North-central provinces and in the Trincomalee district.
Heavy rainfalls about 100-150 mm are likely at some places in the North-western province.
Due to the active cloudiness in the sea area to the north-east of Sri Lanka, showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the sea areas extending from Trincomalee to Kankasanturai via Mullaitivu.
The possibility for heavy showers or thundershowers and sudden roughness, associated with a sudden increase of wind speed (up to 70-80 kmph) in the above given deep-sea areas is high.
