Colombo (News 1st); The Manning Market in Pettah, Colombo will remain closed until further notice, said Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana on Monday (09).
He said even though the Manning Market was to be opened on Monday (09) morning, the decision was reversed based on the instructions given by the health authorities.
PCR tests were conducted on the Manning Market 'Nattamis' and based on the result several of them had tested positive for COVID-19.
DIG Ajith Rohana said therefore, traders were not allowed to engage in any activity at the Manning Market, adding the re-opening of the Mannin Market was postponed indefinitely.
However, Sri Lanka Police and the Intelligence Units, as well as the health officials, are monitoring the situation at present, especially with regard to COVID-19 cases and their close contacts, he said.
Thereafter, on the recommendations of the health officials, a decision will be made to re-open the manning market.
