COVID-19 cases from Minuwangoda cluster rises to 2077

Colombo (News 1st); A total of 63 people were confirmed positive to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, said the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), on Monday (19).

Among them, 2 are expatriates from Japan and the other 61 cases were locally-identified close contacts of Minuwangoda apparel factory-infected employee.

The total number of COVID-19 positive cases reported from Minuwangoda apparel factory cluster is 2077.

Of them, 1,041 are factory employees and other 1036 are locally-identified contacts of the apparel factory-infected employees.

On Monday (19) morning flight UL 455 from Narita, Japan arrived with 10 passengers and all of them were sent to the tri forces-managed Quarantine Centres after PCR tests.

Within the day (19), 205 quarantined individuals after PCR tests are set to leave for their homes.

To-date, 54,328 individuals have left for homes after completing the mandatory quarantine period.

As of this morning (19), 9,287 people in 83 tri-service-managed QCs are still in quarantine.

On Sunday (18), 9287 PCR tests were carried out across the country and the total PCR tests conducted so far stands at 383,961.

By 6.00 this morning (19), 08 fully-recovered COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals.

05 of them are expatriates and 03 were identified as close contacts of Minuwangoda garment factory-infected employees who were in quarantine at QCs.
