COLOMBO (News1st): The environment ministry has introduced multiple hotlines to file complaints concerning environmental destruction in the country.
The ministry can be contacted on 1991, the central environment authority on 1981, and the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau on 1921.
"If the matter is not looked into, I urge the public to contact me personally," environment minister Mahinda Amaraweera said Thursday.
He said that plans are underway to appoint a retired army Major to overlook operations when conducting raids.
"We are currently in the selection process and the appointment will be made soon," the minister noted.
