Five new registered political parties in Sri Lanka

COLOMBO (News1st): Five parties including the Pivithuru Hela Urumaya have joined the list of registered political parties for 2020, the national election commission said. It noted that 154 applications were filed by various entities seeking recognition as a political party, out of which 121 had been shortlisted before selecting five parties after an interview. According to the national election commission, the newly-recognized parties are as follows;

• Arunalu Janatha Peramuna
• Janatha Sevaka Pakshaya
• New-Democratic Marxist-Leninist Party
• Pivithuru Hela Urumaya
• Samaththuva Kadchi
• Sinhala Ravaya
