COLOMBO (News1st): Members of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna have criticized MP Dr Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe over his remarks on the 20th amendment. "I feel he made these statements as a result of not receiving a position that he expected to receive," Kanthi Kodikara an SLPP councillor at the Maharagama Urban Council said. She said that the leaders of the country must be given the strength instead of being pulled backwards. Att.-at.Law Ravindra Jayasinghe, the Avissawella organizer of the party, said that individuals like Dr. Rajapakshe do not have the right to comment on such matters. "Some individuals did not witness how the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna was built at the grassroots," Jayasinghe said. Meanwhile, Moratuwa Mayor Saman Lal Fernando has said that he expected Rajapakshe to be at the forefront in bringing forward the 20th amendment. He said that his faction would support the leadership of the SLPP and not such individuals.
