39 people arrested for violating Quarantine/Police curfew

Colombo (News 1st); There is no decision to impose a lockdown or a curfew in Colombo or across the Island, said DIG Ajith Rohana speaking Exclusively to News 1st's Sampath Dissanayake.

"We have enforced the Quarantine/Police curfew in Minuwangoda, Veyangoda, and Divulapitiya and it remains until further notice. We do not plan to extend the curfew to other areas at this moment," said DIG Ajith Rohana.

The Deputy Police Chief urged the general public to follow the quarantine rules and regulations, especially to wear face masks and maintain social distancing.

If a person believes he or she is infected with COVID-19 or shows symptoms of the virus, one should immediately reveal the details to the nearest Police Station or the PHI Office, for immediate action to be taken.

39 people were arrested for violating the Quarantine/Police curfew in Minuwangoda, Veyangoda and Divulapitiya, said DIG Ajith Rohana on Monday (05).

Stern action will be taken against anyone found responsible for spreading false information and promoting fake news on the present situation in the country.
