Rise in rabies in Millaniya

COLOMBO(News 1st): Information is being obtained regarding the spread of rabies among foxes in several areas in the Millaniya Divisional Secretary jurisdiction in Kalutara, according the Ministry of Wildlife. A cow had died after it was bitten by a rabies infected fox yesterday, State Minister Wimalaweera Dissanayake said. Cases of rabies have been reported in several areas of Millaniya, Galpatha, Madurawala and Aramawatta, Wildlife officials said. Steps are being taken to prevent the spread of rabies in the area, the Secretary of the Sri Lanka Public Health Inspectors Association Mahendra Balasuriya further added.
