COLOMBO (News1st): Defence secretary Kamal Gunaratne has said that he did not contest the general election as he does not follow a certain agenda.
"I received numerous requests from leaders to contest from Colombo. However, I said that I don't have an agenda to that effect," Gunaratne said during a workshop in Colombo.
He pointed out that he had released a senior additional secretary to another state entity, whom he had met only once in five months, and that the move could be disputed based on circulars.
"I haven't memorized circulars nor have I worked with them," Gunaratne noted.
He stressed that he, however, knows to utilize a person to get the job done.
