COLOMBO (News 1st): The National Dangerous Drugs Control Board has taken measures to provide training to officers at Divisional Secretariats, on the identification and rehabilitation of drug addicts.
"Under the program, two officers selected from each Divisional Secretariat will be given the relevant training," Dr. Laknath Welagedara, the Chairman of the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board said on Wednesday (Aug 26).
Thereby, the respective officers will be able to inform the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board regarding any drug addicts and facilitate the rehabilitation process.
Further, the families of affected individuals will be assisted by Divisional Secretariats during the rehabilitation process.
"The general public could inform the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board regarding any drug addicts in the respective areas, through the hotline 1927," Dr. Laknath Welagedara further added.
According to Dr. Laknath Welagedara, by contacting the hotline, the service of a counselor could be obtained over the phone.
