Colombo (News 1st); Chairman of the Ceylon Electricity Board Vijitha Herath said there will be no power-cut after Friday (21) as the CEB expects the Norochcholai Coal-Powered Power Plant to be added to the National Grid by Friday evening.

Ranjith Vithanage, the President of the Consumer Rights Protection Organization, said if the recent power-cut was the result of a human error as claimed by the CEB Chairman, he must resign from his position immediately.

He added the general public need not pay for the error committed by an engineer attached to the CEB.

Vithanage went on to note, the Electricity Mafia was exposed following the recent electricity breakdown.

Professor Rahula Attalage, the Chair of the Committee appointed to investigate the blackout said an interim report on its findings will be presented to the subject minister on the 24th of August.

He said the committee will visit the multiple locations where errors were reported before completing its report.

The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka will send a delegation to inspect the Kerawalapitiya Grid Sub-Station and the Norochcholai Power Plant on Friday (21).
