One arrested for illegally manufacturing weapons

COLOMBO (News1st): An individual has been arrested for illegally manufacturing weapons in the Walasmulla area, police said. The arrest was carried out during a raid carried out by the Police Special Task Force officers. Two locally manufactured weapons, 11 bullets, and three empty bullet shells were recovered during the raid, according to the police. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the suspect had sold the manufactured weapons. Meanwhile, a couple was nabbed with several packets of heroin in Piliyandala by the Colombo Crimes Division on Wednesday. The suspects, aged 21 and 23, were arrested with Rs 28,500 earned through the narcotic trade, two mobile phones, and a motor vehicle. Investigations had revealed that the drug racket was manipulated by a prisoner and that the suspects were involved in distributing the narcotics.
