Lakshman Yapa to support party despite poll defeat

COLOMBO (News1st): Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena said he will continue to support the party despite failing to secure his parliamentary seat at the poll. ''I will make my decision with patience. They know who I am. Especially Basil knows about me. Therefore, Basil will provide me with some form of protection'' he said. Abeywardena refused to comment on any decision regarding his political career. ''Let us see how things work out. Based on that I shall make my political decision'' he said. He added some people might have been deceived by other politicians in exchange for certain perks, and that they would understand the reality in a few months.
