Police tracing weapons used by PNB officers

Pistols discovered in Mt. Lavinia belong to drug trafficking PNB officers; Police

Colombo (News 1st);  Sri Lanka Police said the 04 pistols and 08 magazines discovered in a small jungle area in Mount Lavinia by the Colombo Crimes Division are believed to be those used by the Police Narcotic Bureau officers who are currently in remand custody.

Preliminary investigations revealed the 04 state-of-the-art weapons were imported to the country from Pakistan, said Sri Lanka Police adding they were brought along with 56 kilograms of heroin seized by authorities inside the country.

Sri Lanka Police said a weapon similar to those discovered in Mount Lavinia was traced using the information extracted from Police Narcotic Bureau officers currently detained by the CID.

Extensive investigation of the suspects had revealed, 04 of the 05 weapons brought to the country were handed over to a known drug trafficker identified as " Badowita Rajitha ".

Sri Lanka Police said it is believed " Badowita Rajitha " had fled to India by boat and investigations are underway.
