Colombo (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police said it had taken necessary measures to approach the Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka with regard to reports of "Angoda Lokka"s death in Coimbatore.
Police Spokesperson SSP Jaliya Senaratne said as the matter involves a foreign nation a diplomatic approach will be made with regard to it.
On Sunday (02) Sri Lanka Police inspected multiple lands said have been taken over by force by notorious underworld leader "Angoda Lokka".
Information on these lands was uncovered following the interrogation of Thamula Arachchige Saman Kumara alias "Sembu", an associate of "Angoda Lokka" who was recently arrested by Police in Mulleriyawa.
Sri Lanka Police said the 929 perches plot of land is valued at over Rs. 500 Million.
Senior DIG of the Western Province Deshabandu Tennakoon speaking to reporters said the land in question was owned by a person in the Southern Province and the property was transferred to the name of "Angoda Lokka"s associate.
He said investigations are underway and legal action will be instituted under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act in order to confiscate the property.
" Angoda Lokka" is wanted for multiple crimes in Sri Lanka including the attack on a Kalutara Prison Bus on the 27th of February 2017 killing notorious underworld leader " Samayan " and several others.
Seven people were killed when gunmen opened fire on a prison department bus in Kalutara on Monday the 27th of February 2017.
Five suspects, including underworld figure Aruna Udayantha alias " Samayan ", were killed in the incident along with two prison guards.
