COLOMBO (News 1st): More than 3000 people from 16 districts have been directed into self-quarantine, the Public Health Inspectors' Union of Sri Lanka said on Wednesday (July 14).
According to PHI Union's Secretary - Mahendra Balasuriya, staff members at the Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre - Kandakadu, their family members and other case contacts were directed into self-quarantine.
"The districts of Gampaha, Polonnaruwa, Galle, Colombo, Ratnapura, Kurunegala, Kalutara, Kandy, Anuradhapura, Jaffna, Kegalle, Monaragala, Hambantota, Puttalam, Matara and Matale were identified as the affected areas," Balasuriya told News 1st on Wednesday.
In the Colombo district, certain residents in the areas of Gonahena, Godigamuwa, Udumulla, Ratmalana, Orugodawatta, Mattegoda, Kesbewa, Kohuwala, Rawathawatta, Colombo 05/ 08/ 09/ 10/ 13/ 15, Grandpass, Uswetakeiyawa and Ihala-Bomiriya have been directed into self-quarantine, according to Mahendra Balasuriya.
The PHI Union's Secretary requested the general public residing in the above-mentioned 16 districts to act in compliance with the health guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health, as further spread of COVID-19 among the community will severely impact the economic and social conditions of the country.
