COLOMBO (News 1st): Sri Lanka recorded another 19 new infections of COVID-19 on Tuesday (July 14), according to latest figures issued by the Epidemiology Unit at the Ministry of Health.
"Of the 19 cases confirmed yesterday, nine were case contacts of COVID-19 positive cases at the Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre - Kandakadu," the Government Information Department said on Wednesday (July 15).
Another four positive cases were confirmed from the Senapura Rehabilitation Centre.
Further, four returnees from Oman and two returnees from the United Arab Emirates also tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday.
Thereby, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country has risen to 2665.
"A total of 532 cases have been confirmed so far, from the Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre - Kandakadu. Of the total 532 cases, 444 are inmates, 64 are staff members and 24 are case contacts of the staff members," Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva - the Acting Chief of Defence Staff and Army Commander told News 1st on Wednesday morning.
Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva urged the general public to comply with health guidelines and wear a face mask when visiting public places.
