Government School Holiday from 13th to 17th July

Colombo (News 1st); An additional holiday from the 13th to the 17th of July was declared for all government schools and piriven institutions in the country, said the Ministry of Education.

In a statement, the Ministry said the decision was taken considering the negative effects the present situation might have on schools and based on the guidelines issued by the health and security forces.

However, schools which will be used as polling centers for the postal vote will remain open tomorrow and the Education Ministry said it is responsibility of the respective school principal to ensure a safe environment is created for polling.

The Ministry of Education said it expects all Private & International schools as well tuition classes to follow the same directive.

All catholic private schools will follow the government's decision to close schools, Rev. Fr. Ivan Perera, the general manager of Catholic private schools said.
