Foreign national arrested over narcotic offence : Police

COLOMBO (News1st): The foreign national who was arrested on the June 25 in connection with the trade of illegal and harmful drugs is a Yemeni national, the Police Headquarters announced on Thursday. "Intelligence Unit of the Police Special Task Force arrested a foreign national on the 25th of June 2020, over his alleged connections to drug racketering; and handed him over to the Kochchikade Police for further investigations", Sri Lanka Police said in a statement. It was earlier mentioned that the suspect was a citizen of the United Arab Emirates and it was also reported on media, according to the statement. "However, investigations have revealed the suspect was a Yemeni national and not a citizen of United Arab Emirates," Sri Lanka Police noted.
