Colombo (News 1st); 122 weapons were seized by Sri Lanka Police in special operations which took place across 24 days.
11 T-56 Assault Rifles, 01 T-81 Assualt Rifle, 26 12 Bore-Shotguns, 03 Pistols, 46 repeating rifles were among the weapons seized.
89 suspects were arrested for the illegal possession of firearms while Sri Lanka Police recovered 578 live rounds of ammunition.
During the same period, 10,968 suspects were arrested for the possession of illegal substances and 6140 of them were arrested for heroin trafficking.
Sri Lanka Police seized a total of 08 kilograms of heroin and 295 kilograms of Marijuana during the operations.
In addition, 9198 suspects were arrested for the possession of illegal spirits.
Further 9077 people with a warrant against them as well as 17,275 suspects wanted for various other crimes were arrested by Sri Lanka Police.
Law enforcement officers also seized a variety of explosive material, 13 hand grenades, 23 detonators, and arrested 10 suspects for possession.
