Hotels will be allowed to conduct weddings from the 01st of June onwards, the Ministry of Tourism and Aviation said.
Hotels will be allowed to accommodate only one-third of the reception hall's capacity while maintaining 1.5 meters of social distancing among people, Secretary to the Ministry Siripala Hettiarachchi said.
Regarding restarting tourism, he further said, the health authorities have provided necessary guidelines to the ministry in order to reopen the tourism industry.
He added most countries have taken steps to invite tourists to their countries and Sri Lanka will also use outlets such as social media to entice tourists to visit the country.
The ministry has taken steps to provide a relief package to people fully dependant on the tourism industry, who have suffered greatly due to the pandemic, the Secretary added.
He said hotel staff, destination management companies, tourism agencies and others dependent on tourism will be receiving the said allowance.
