PCR tests carried out on all arrivals

283 people repatriated to the country tested positive for COVID-19

Colombo (News 1st); Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army and Acting Chief of Defence Staff said among those who were repatriated to the country from overseas 283 people tested positive for COVID-19.

He said the 127 returnees from Kuwait who tested positive for the virus on Tuesday had the virus in them upon arrival and immediate PCR tests were carried.

In addition, the Army Commander said in total 629 sailors had tested positive for COVID-19 adding 325 of them fully recovered and were discharged from hospital.

4741 people are undergoing quarantine across 43 quarantine facilities in the country and 101 people are to be released on Wednesday.
