COLOMBO (News 1st): Due to the low-level atmospheric disturbance in the vicinity of Sri Lanka, the prevailing showery condition is expected to enhance over the island during the next few days, particularly on 26th, 27th, 28th and 29th May 2020.
The Department of Meteorology predicts heavy rainfalls above 100 mm can be expected in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern, North-western and Uva provinces.
Due to the active cloudiness in the South Eastern sea area off the coast extending from Hambantota to Potuvil, the
possibility for heavy showers or thundershowers accompanied by lightning is very high.
Met Department predicts wind speed to increase up to 70-80 kmph.
Naval and fishing communities are requested to be vigilant in this regard.
